I will be having a show alongside fellow artist Deon Blackwell, Adam Kitzerow, Jim Reiman & Vince Kral at the West Tampa Center for the Arts this December.

A long time ago in a gallery far far away artists Deon Stanley Blackwell, Adam Kitzerow, and Vincent Kral unleashed the Star Wars themed exhibition “I Have a Very Bad Feeling About This….”

The artists have returned in full force to present the exhibition’s sequel, “I Still Have a Bad Feeling About This!” December 9th, 2011 at the West Tampa Center for the Arts. Artists Robb Fladry and James Reiman have joined this rebellious alliance and their plans to transform the WTCA with an event hotter than a summer afternoon on Tatooine! The exhibition promises to offer a heart warming, yet blunt critique of George Lucas’s Star Wars Universe. They will give a loyal life long fan’s response to the good, the bad, and the ugly things that have come out the legendary film franchise and its numerous prequels and re-releases. Come witness the celebration and the wrath of these five talented artists as they conjure up power of the Force and Dark Side to create an arsenal of artistic works in a variety of media.

April 2 – May 27, 2011

The April-May exhibition in ACA’s Harris House Gallery is the outcome of a site specific, multimedia collaboration between three different artists. The artists, Robb Fladry, Jay Hollick, and Jordi Williams are University of South Florida graduate students.

Robb Fladry’s work deals with ways popular culture works to unify otherwise disparate communities, creating common ground that can transcend geography, age, and cultural background. Through manipulation of digital photography, the internet, and video, Fladry mixes and recontextualizes pop cultural images to create something new from the familiar, everyday images that saturate daily life.

James Hollick’s paintings and mixed media works explore the phenomenon of seeing spiritual images in everyday objects. Inspired by such events as The Virgin Mary’s appearances on toast or the face of Jesus in a seat cushion, Hollick seeks to question what can be considered a sacred object, and where the borders of sacredness lie.

Jordi Williams’ work addresses the ability of an experience, and the following sense of nostalgia for that experience, to transform disposable consumer objects into personal relics and symbols. She investigates the common characteristics of the consumer goods that often accompany personal milestones and celebrations, such as party and holiday decorations, party lighting and favors, in the hope of capturing their magic.

These artists share a common interest in transforming the everyday into the sublime. They also share an interest in the point where popular culture and spiritual experience blur. They employ similar tactics to evoke a strong reaction from viewers, such as use of theatrical presentation methods, extreme colors and innovative use of space. Rather than collaborating by each working on the same work of art, they will work together to transform the gallery space, creating an environment intended to cause the viewer to question issues surrounding the mundane, everyday world, the world depicted in popular culture, and the sacred, spiritual worlds we create to embody what we cannot see.

The Drift will be a one-night exhibition that celebrates and explores an artist’s movement through his or her medium. The idea of the Drift, as best defined by the Situationists is: an unconscious yet willing movement from one place to another; the leisure activity of letting oneself be drawn by the attractions of the terrain and the encounters they find there.

On October 14th 2010, from 6-9pm, visitors will be guided both simultaneously and virtually, to and from these different spaces, in an interactive show piece that will invite people to wander both physically and mentally through these multiple exhibitions. Utilizing ‘Ustream,’ each exhibition will be broadcasted live on the Internet as well as projected in each space. Artworks will explore the concepts of movement, wandering, terrain and architecture in relation to the artist or wherever they might project themselves. Artwork included in these exhibitions will incorporate all mediums such as: Video, 2D, sculpture, mixed media, installation & performance art.
